Terminal Within a Terminal: An Innovative Terminal Emulator Based on Turbo Vision

tvterm is an experimental terminal emulator application with a unique feature: it can run itself inside a terminal. This project is developed based on the Turbo Vision framework, primarily to showcase the framework’s new features, especially 24-bit color support. tvterm uses the libvterm library developed by Paul Evan, which is also the terminal emulator library adopted by well-known editors like Neovim and Emacs, ensuring technical maturity. The project supports both Unix and Windows (version 1809 or higher) platforms, offering excellent cross-platform compatibility. Although still in development, the project has planned several practical features, including UTF-8 support, full-width and zero-width character handling, scroll history, text selection, and search. For system tool enthusiasts, terminal technology researchers, and developers needing cross-platform terminal tools, tvterm provides an interesting technical implementation reference and innovative ideas.
