Sony Interactive Entertainment filed a lawsuit in California court this July against Tencent’s studio Polaris Quest, accusing their new game “Light of Motiram” of copying Sony’s “Horizon” series. The lawsuit alleged that the game bore striking similarities to the “Horizon” franchise in its setting, female protagonist design, and gameplay mechanics. Reports indicate that Tencent had previously attempted to secure licensing rights for the “Horizon” IP but was rejected. This week, Sony and Tencent reached a confidential settlement, and “Light of Motiram” has been removed from Steam and Epic Games Store platforms. Both companies declined to provide further comments on the matter.
