Solder-Free Golang Solution: Solving GiffGaff SMS Forwarding Challenges

This article introduces a solder-free GiffGaff SMS forwarding and automatic number maintenance solution. The author addresses the pain points of traditional solutions, such as high data costs or the need to solder an ESP32, by proposing an innovative approach based on serial control of an air780e device combined with a Golang backend. This solution features low hardware costs—approximately 30 yuan for the Mobile/Unicom version and about 50 yuan for the fully unlocked version—and simple deployment, requiring only a small USB-capable device like an N1 box, soft router, or mini PC. The project is open source and supports SMS receiving, sending, message push notifications, and automatic messaging functions. It’s particularly suitable for users with SIM cards that have no data plan and who have devices at home that can run continuously. Through a plug-and-play approach, users can achieve automatic SMS forwarding and number maintenance without any soldering skills, providing a practical technical solution for specific user groups.
