In the hallway of an innovative tech company, Tom, a gifted communicator and non-engineer, was grabbing a cup of coffee when he decided to capture the attention of his colleagues. Despite the disciplines varying widely, he managed to persuade them to discuss tradeoffs and scoping efforts for a new project. His ability to describe complex issues in a way that was both upfront and understandable made a significant impact. Evaluating similar past initiatives, they realized that though the effort was substantial, the potential reduced impact on workflow was worth the initial challenge. Especially for Tom, whose dedication to clear communication had always been especially difficult but rewarding.
